JAY-Z Reacts To Meek Mill's Prison Release With Powerful Message

Meek Mill's questionable two to four-year prison sentence was cut short on Tuesday (April 24) when he was released after only serving five months. The Philadelphia Supreme Court made the ruling, which made all of Meek's fans jump for joy.

From his mentor Rick Ross, T.I., Dave East, Rihanna, Kevin Hart and more; many fellow artists have voiced their happiness for Meek's freedom. Another person who's relieved about the star's release is JAY-Z. Hov was one of the most vocal people denouncing Meek's imprisonment. On Facebook, JAY reacted to the news with a powerful message.

"Today, Meek Mill, a son of Philadelphia, is a free man. He was incarcerated unjustly and caught in a probation trap for years by a broken system. Now we can celebrate his release," the note started. "We thank every individual that has supported and fought alongside Meek every step of the way." See the post below.

Hov's company Roc Nation also issued a statement to Rolling Stone. It read: "We are pleased with the Supreme Court's decision to grant Meek Mill bail and allow him to return home to his loved ones. We are grateful for all the support that Meek has received from his fans and public advocates over the past five months and look forward to working alongside Meek to fight for criminal justice reform."

Shoutout to JAY-Z for sticking by Meek's side, during his sentence, though the case isn't over. The Philly rapper acknowledged JAY in his first official statement, right before he left from behind bars. Meek said: "I’d like to thank God, my family, my friends, my attorneys, my team at Roc Nation including JAY-Z, Desiree Perez, my good friend Michael Rubin, my fans, The Pennsylvania Supreme Court and all my public advocates for their love, support and encouragement during this difficult time."
