Rays Beat Angels, Snap Skid At Five

The Tampa Bay Rays (5-6) snapped their five-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels (7-4) 5-4 on Wednesday night at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.

Jose Caballero hit a grand slam in the first inning that gave the Rays a crucial big lead. Ryan Pepiot (1-1, 3.38) got the start and allowed three earned run six hits while striking out five and walking three. Pete Fairbanks worked a scoreless ninth inning to get his second save of the season.

The Rays will now try to win the three-game series against the Angels on Thursday afternoon. Zack Littell (0-2, 4.15) will get the start for the Rays opposed by Jose Soriano (1-1, 3.65) for the Angels. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
