Skepta has officially launched his lyrical war against American MCs, starting with his first victim, Joyner Lucas.
On Friday, July 11, the UK-born rapper dropped his new song "Friendly Fire" aimed at Lucas. On the track, Skepta fires a few shots at media personalities like Akademiks before he puts the Massachusetts native into his crosshairs.
"Joyner Lucas, you bastard/Why you rap like you studied at Harvard?" he raps. "If I see him on tour in London, I jump on stage and move to his dancers/Who said that I'ma lose? I need answers/You couldn't walk a mile in my shoes, I'm the hardest/I train with the animals, you really don't want this."
Skepta previously promised to diss Joyner Lucas on wax during their back-and-forth on social media last week. The notable grime rapper took to X and told his 1.2 million followers that he wants to "clash an American rapper" so that he can "finally get this UK/US rap debate sorted." Not long afterward, Joyner Lucas responded Skepta's challenge.
"The moment I’ve been waiting for…😈 say the word, Joyner Lucas vs @Skepta #UKvsUS," Lucas wrote.
"1st 👏🏿 you’re a brave man Jonah," Skepta replied. "How long you been waiting for this moment though?"
As of this report, Joyner Lucas has not responded. He's too focused on the release of his latest single "Time Is Money" featuring DaBaby, J Balvin and Fireboy DML. The song is set to appear on his upcoming album ADHD 2.
