Rays Beat Giants For Second Straight Night

The Tampa Bay Rays (20-12) defeated the San Francisco Giants (13-20) 5-1 on Saturday night. With the win, the Rays have won the interleague series, and will try to sweep the Giants on Sunday afternoon. For the Rays, they became just the second team in the American League to get to 20 wins.

The Rays got a single run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly from Jack Fraley. In the fifth, the Rays took control - after Cedric Mullins accepted a bases-loaded walk, Jonathan Aranda hit a two-run single. The Giants got one run back in the sixth, before Jonny DeLuca scored on a error in the eighth inning to make it a 5-1 final score.

Griffin Jax was the opener and pitched two and two-third shutout innings before giving way to Jesse Scholtens (3-1, 3.18). Scholtens got the win allowing one earned run on four hits in his three innings of work while striking out three and walking none.

The Rays now will attempt to sweep the Giants in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. First pitch on Sunday is scheduled for 1:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at high noon on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
