On Friday (June 19), Dustin Nolan, a morning news anchor for KWQC TV6 in Davenport, Iowa, announced live on air that he was leaving the news industry, making an emotional plea for more transparent and fact-driven reporting. Nolan began to tear up as he thanked viewers for trusting him over the years and stressed the importance of sharing news that challenges comfort zones, rather than offering only "sanitized news" that avoids difficult topics.

During his sign-off, Nolan said, "I have chosen to step away from the news industry... I hope every one of you that’s allowed me to be a part of your mornings knows just how important that I have taken this job and how much it means to me that you’ve trusted me these past few years." He continued, "I’ve always believed that we, as a local news station, owe you, the viewers, the best that we can do, because without you, none of us would be able to do this job."

Nolan emphasized that news should be more than trends or "sanitized" stories, saying, "That’s why the facts matter, and that’s why we do what we do here. We have to take people out of their bubbles and comfort zones and make them think about the world we all live in."

He also thanked his co-anchor and wife, Jenna Jackson, for being "the greatest co-anchor in life as well as at the news desk." Nolan, who joined KWQC in 2022 and won a Mid-America Emmy in 2025 for his work, did not provide a specific reason for his resignation, but his statements suggested ongoing concerns about newsroom practices and the need for greater transparency.

KWQC TV6 has not publicly commented on Nolan's resignation. Nolan's farewell was later shared on the station's official TikTok account.
