Man, it pains me to even be writing this. Being a native New Yorker, I loved the energy Pop Smoke brought to not only the city, but to the world with his music.
He helped introduce a new form of grime / drill music with a New York twist to the world. His unmistakable voice, his cadence, the dance moves: he had all the makings of a young star on the rise. Sometimes, these types of stars unfortunately fizzle out way before they hit their prime.
This is no exception. I'll put some of my favorite Pop Smoke moments below, check them out.
Rest in peace to Bashar Barakah Jackson; a.k.a. Pop Smoke. Murdered at 20 years old.
