(Miami, FL) -- Forecasters say Tropical Storm Erin could become a Cat 3 hurricane by the end of the week.

National Weather Service meteorologist Robert Molleda says, it's too early to tell if this storm will impact the U.S. coast.

He says even though some so-called spaghetti models show the storm turning to the north near Bermuda, the National Hurricane Center's forecast cone is the most accurate. And he warns against relying on models that make predictions past seven days. But for now, Erin is not a threat to Florida.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Erin is currently churning in the eastern Atlantic Ocean after forming just west of the Cabo Verde Islands.

The National Hurricane Center puts Erin's maximum sustained winds at 45 miles-per-hour at last check and is expected to head westward toward the northeast Caribbean.
