Rap Rising: Rapsody Drops New Album 'Please Don't Cry' With All-Star Lineup

Rapsody returns with her most personal and brutally honest album to date.

On Friday, May 17, the North Carolina native released her fourth studio album Please Don't Cry via Jamla Records/Roc Nation. Her latest body of work begins with an eye-opening conversation with famed actress Phylicia Rashad. It continues with stand-out tracks like "Look What You've Done" which features a cameo from The Breakfast Club's Charlamagne Tha God and "Back In My Bag." She also includes critically-acclaimed collaborations with Erykah Badu, Bibi Bourelly, Baby Tate, Nicole Bus, Lil Wayne and more. During her new interview with The Breakfast Club, Rapsody admits that she actually had to rewrite her verse on "Raw" after she heard Weezy's contribution.

"When I got his verse back, I was like 'Nah!'" she explained. "I gotta match his level of raw like I gotta match it. I can't give the people that. I sent it back to him and was like 'I rewrote it. I took your flow and I just put my words to it> I just wanted to let you know. What you think?' He sent me fire emojis."

Please Don't Cry serves as the follow-up to her 2019 LP Eve. She kicked off the rollout for the album last year when she released her collaboration with Hit-Boy "Asteroids." Back in March, she confirmed the title of the LP and revealed its all-star lineup of features.

Rapsody's "Back In My Bag" currently sits at the top of iHeartRadio's Rap Rising playlist. Her new album also arrived on the same day as other incredible projects from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Mach-Hommy, Kamaiyah, BIG30, wolfacejoeyy and more.
